Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Nicholas Knowles, who was born in Syracuse, New York on January 20, 1979 and passed away on March 01, 2007 at the age of 28. We will remember him forever. He leaves behind his mother, Shelly Knowles, his father, Melvin Youker, a sister, Sara Knowles Anostario, four aunts, Sherry Knowles, Susan Knowles, Laurie Cole and Cheryl Youker, and an uncle, Darryl Youker, as well as several Great Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and many close friends.  Loved by all, Nick had a way with people.  He was honest and honorable.  He was gifted.  He thirsted for knowledge and soaked information in like a sponge.  He accepted all cultures and religions.  He had thoughts on everything and loved to speak his mind and to discuss anything.  Although taken from us so short, he accomplished so much.  Always determined and hopeful, Nick never gave up on anything he set his mind to. Only the good die young.

Dearest Nicholas:

To honor you, I get up every day
And take a breath
And start another day
Without you in it.

To honor you, I laugh and love
With those who knew your smile,
And the way your eyes sparkled with joy,
Full of life.

To honor you, I take the time
To appreciate everyone I love.
I know now there is no guarantee
Of days or hours spent in their presence.

You are the light of my life,
My gift of love
From our Heavenly Father.

So every day, I vow to make a difference,
Share a smile, live, laugh, and love.
Now I live for us both.
So all I do, I do to honor you,
My precious, beautiful child.
Love Mom

His legacy
Not a survivor by choice
My Mom is a Survivor
~Author~
Copyright 2001 Kaye Des'Ormeaux

My Mom is a survivor,
or so I've heard it said.
But I can hear her crying at night
when all others are in bed.
I watch her lay awake at night
and go to hold her hand.
She doesn't know I'm with her
to help her understand.
But like the sands on the beach
that never wash away ...
I watch over my surviving Mom
who thinks of me each day.
She wears a smile for others ...
a smile of disguise!
But through Heaven's door
I see tears flowing from her eyes.
My Mom tries to cope with death;
To keep my memory alive.
But anyone who knows her knows
it is her way to survive.
As I watch over my surviving Mom
through Heaven's open door ...
I try to tell her that angels
protect me forevermore!
I know that doesn't help her,
or ease the burden she bears.
So, if you get a chance, go visit her.
Show her that you care.
For no matter what she says ...
no matter what she feels.
My surviving Mom has a broken heart
that time won't ever heal.

MOTHER

Ode to Mother

Oh mother, do not grieve for me
For I am up above you
Looking down on thee

It is with my father
That you gave a life to me
But it is in my death
That truly set me free

I have a soul dear mother
That leads me away from thee
I have a higher purpose
That no one else can see

I have begun my journey
You have prepared me well
I will find the way I need to go
As time will tell

Thank you dear mother
I know you’re always there
I must go on without you
But it is with great care

Please understand me mother
And make sure you know
That I have a higher purpose
And it’s time to let me go
